Sweet Disorder
DELIGHT IN DISORDER
A sweet disorder in the dress
Kindles in clothes a wantonness:
A lawn about the shoulders thrown
Into a fine distraction:
An erring lace, which here and there
Enthralls the crimson stomacher:
A cuff neglectful, and thereby
Ribbands to flow confusedly:
A winning wave (deserving note)
In the tempestuous petticoat:
A careless shoe-string, in whose tie
I see a wild civility:
Do more bewitch me, than when art
Is too precise in every part.
-Robert Herrick
The Butler at Pleasance Islington Theatre
I was lucky enough to catch this seriously bizarre and gob smacking bit of theatre. For those of you who love a definitively different night out - it’s an absolute must. It shocks, it lures a good laugh and the message sits well with our absurd society. The show is excellently executed with its circus-like demeanor, and the critique it makes rings uncomfortably true. At times we are all snobs wearing stupid smiles and speaking about everything nonsensical and nothing of any real significance. All in all, the acrobatics are amazing, the idea fascinating and the whole thing a darn sight more refreshing than an evening out at the cinema.
Theme: Speaker by Alex Willemyns.
